Priority Projects

Would you consider joining with those already being used by God to support this work? We have prepared brief descriptions of some of the high-priority needs that we see ahead of us. Some are enormous and others much smaller, but probably there are one or more that might “fit” the callings and resources that God has given uniquely to you.

General Ministry Needs
	Bibles We distribute hundreds of Bibles in five languages every year at half of their retail price.	$3-5 per Bible or $1,500 per year
	Land Acquisition Several pieces of land adjacent to our training center and church building are available for sale. Acquiring these properties is essential to realizing our dream of developing a Christian University in coming years. Funds have been given to make a down payment on a primary school that will be renovated and used for classroom and dormitory space. 	Rural Training Centers Three rural areas need training centers within the next six to twelve months. These sites need classroom buildings that can also serve as worship centers, cooking facilities, and latrines; each site can be developed for $20,000.	Building skills or $20,000 each or $60,000 total
	Mkristo Newsletter The Mkristo ("The Christian") newsletter published by the Mbale mission team reaches churches and individuals in four East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sudan). This newsletter is one of the most valuable and cost-effective tools that we have to provide solid Biblical teaching and to build a sense of unity among churches across the East African region. And the whole process--collecting material, editing, formatting, printing and distribution--can be underwritten for $300.00 a month!	$300 a month
	Digital Camcorder This item is needed to facilitate reports, and videotape Bible and ministry courses to begin building a library of video learning resources. A digital video camera was purchased for the Mbale Mission Team in April 2003.	$500-$1000
	Library/Office/Classroom Complex Existing space for the numbers of students being trained is inadequate, and additional academic levels require significant library resources. Two offices, four classrooms, a library, and a catering facility are needed to accommodate the number of students which is expected to double or triple. 	Transportation This amount would purchase a used car for our Kenyan coworkers, James and Noeli Luchivya, who currently use about $30 per day to rent vehicles for rural ministry.	$10,000
	Leadership Courses We are teaching at least 12 basic level courses and 3 advanced level courses per year with an average cost of $500 per course for food, materials and student transportation.	$7,500 per year
	MTI Scholarships Students attending Messiah Theological Institute (MTI) can be sponsored for $10 per basic-level course (including transportation) or $20 per advanced-level course (including transportation).	$10-$20 per student per course or $200-$600 to sponsor a student through graduation
	Support Staff Hiring office assistants will free missionaries from the increasing burden of office work so that they are able to maximize time spent in church ministry, teaching, and training others.	$500 per month or $6,000 per year
	Dormitories Student housing is needed to accommodate students who now sleep on the floor of the training center/church auditorium.	Building skills or $15,000 per furnished room or $150,000 total
	Missionary Kids’ School Support The Mbale Mission Team maintains a private school for the missionaries’ kids. A minimum of four qualified teachers is needed annually for this work.	$12,000 annually per teacher
	Commercial Shops Construction We seek to develop commercial rental shops for local income generation to reduce dependency on outside financing for running the training center.	Building skills or $3,000-$10,000 per shop or $100,000 total
	Computer Training Center This would provide a service to the community that is currently in great demand. It would also provide a means of income generation to help fund the training center.	Building skills or $25,000
	Church Building Roofs Roofing assistance (20 iron sheets, 4 kilograms of nails, and 5 ridges) is given to about 20 rural churches per year, after they buy land, and construct the walls and rafters themselves.	$150 each
	Children's Home Began in 1992 with the help of Christian Relief Fund (CRF), the Church of Christ Children's Home in Kitale, Kenya needs funds for regular maintenance, repairs, office supplies/upgrades, workers, small projects, medical assistance, and transportation.	$500-$2000 per project and/or short-term mission work- team
	Bahati Primary School This school, begun in 1994, to provide an education for the children of the children of the Church of Christ Children's Home in Kitale, Kenya, still needs additional desks, office equipment, supplies, staff housing, and funds for maintenance and repairs.	$200-$1000 per project and/or short-term mission work- team
	Tract Printing The Mbale Mission Team develops, prints and distributes correspondance courses, tracts and calendars to dozens of church leaders each week.	$30 per 1000 courses or tracts $200 per year for calendars
