Family
Ian and Danetta, having worked previously
in Malawi from 1991 to 1994, joined the Mbale mission team in February 1996
with three children (Leila, born 15 March 1991; Josiah, 3 August 1992; and
Nathanael, 2 May 1995). Since that time, the Lord has added four more
children to their family (Jonathan, born 4 December 1996; Luke, 18 May 1998;
Emily, 17 December 2002; and Asher, 20 August 2006).
Educational Background
Ian received a BA in Biblical languages
from Lubbock Christian University in 1987, then later completed both his MA
in Old Testament and MDiv at Abilene Christian University.
Danetta also graduated from LCU, completing
a BSEd with science and math teaching fields and a BA in general studies in
1988. She is Texas-certified to teach at all levels from elementary to high
school.
Ministry Focus
Ian worked closely with Shawn from 1996
through 2002 doing rural church visitation, leadership training, and (from
2000) ministry with the Mbale town church. In 2002, he began to focus
primarily on coordinating the team’s training of leaders through Messiah
Theological Institute. He still participates in rural church visitation and
preaches regularly at the town church, as well as being involved in other
aspects of team ministry.
Danetta is primarily involved at home and
with the kids’ schooling. Besides managing a nine-member household, she
coordinates the mission team school, communicating with prospective and
current teachers and ordering the curriculum, as well as keeping track of
the finances of both the school and our town church.
