Credentials

We prefer applicants to have a teaching credential valid in their state of residence, in addition to a bachelor's degree, at least, in education or one or more of their teaching fields. Although these are our preferences, we are willing to consider applicants with other qualifications, depending on their skills and prior experience.
 

Spiritual Orientation and Support

Applicants must be Christians completely committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. Those with a background in the Churches of Christ or Independent Christian Churches will probably feel most comfortable with our team, since those are our own roots. We do, however, welcome teachers from other denominational backgrounds if, after going through the application process, both they and we agree that God has directed them our way. As with all members of our team, teachers must have spiritual support and accountability from a local church eldership or similar leadership structure.

Age Considerations

The Job Itself

Teachers are responsible to teach one or sometimes more grade levels for our team's children, as well as a small number of students from other international expatriate families in our immediate community.

Duration

We usually ask that teachers spend at least one full academic year (September – May) with us. We recommend that teachers plan to come to Uganda at least a month before the beginning of a school year, in order to have time for initial adjustments and some preparation for the tasks they will be doing during the year.

Financial Support

A furnished house is provided for teachers of the Mbale Mission School. We encourage applicants to raise the remainder of their financial support.
