Jennifer Allen
Jennifer joined the team in August of 2006. She
graduated in December 2005 from Harding University with a degree in Public
Relations and was accepted into the Masters of Science in Counseling program
the next semester. She finished two semesters before moving to Mbale for a
year. Jennifer works with a group of 22 high school students who were
abducted and forced into combat by the rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance
Army. The students she works with are orphans who attend an
American-sponsored school in Soroti, a town an hour north of Mbale. Jennifer
is also the interim administrator for the Kenya Church of Christ Children’s
Home in Kitale, Kenya. She travels the three hours into Kenya once a month
to oversee finances and make sure everything is running smoothly at the
home. In her spare time, Jennifer works in the library at MTI, entering new
books into the system and shelving books that have been processed.
Jennifer spent the first ten years of her life on the
mission field in Eldoret, Kenya. In 2005 she participated in the internship
with the Mbale team, and decided she wanted to come back to East Africa to
work. She enjoys reading, cooking, walking on the beach, candle-lit
restaurants, good conversations, and making plans with her friends to save
the world. |
